Job Description:
Amitech is seeking a Project Manager with 10+ years of experience in project, program or portfolio management, preferably in a technical services organization. The person in this position leads and manages multiple, cross functional, client services, and potentially highly complex projects and/or technical initiatives. Acts as a client-facing trusted advisor to internal and external customers of the client. Focuses on ensuring delivery excellence of the clients automated underwriting product driving real business benefits. Leads project teams and facilitates delivery processes balancing efficiency and effectiveness of approach (simplicity, predictability, suitability) including utilization of Agile and/or Lean practices where appropriate.
 
Your Day-to-Day:
  • Leads client engagement projects beginning-to-end, with particular focus on implementations and support of the client’s technical e-underwriting solutions with external insurance industry customers.
  • Provides leadership and partnership with internal and external stakeholders to help create and protect value of project deliverables and impact on business outcomes.
  • Leads multiple, cross-functional business and IT projects and technology initiatives and applies innovative solutions to systems, hardware, software, networking, programming, and/or applications problems.
  • Embraces a high level of change with competing customer expectations in a highly customer-focused environment.
  • Mentors staff on the project teams including, but not limited to training, evaluating, and coaching.
  • Maintains and fosters internal and external client relationships.
  • Takes ownership of the relationship and ensure that clients’ objectives are met and gains understanding when the objectives are not feasible.
  • Analyzes customer requirements, evaluates new or existing technology, presents recommendations, and determines test and implementation schedules for the introduction of new or enhanced systems, networks, hardware, software, or applications.
  • Plans and manages resources ensuring all projects meet scope, quality and budget expectations of the client. Avoids surprises.
  • Provides technical guidance to ensure effective systems’ utilization and integration.
  • Maintains current knowledge of industry practices, trends and applications.
  • May perform an advisory role to senior management on potential new business developments and programs.
  • Ensures that projects adhere to the project approval process as supported by the Project Execution Office (PEO).
  • Proactively seeks to enforce and advance best practices and consistent project management practices, policies, and guidelines.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • 10+ years’ experience in project, program or portfolio management, preferably in a technical services organization.
  • Highly advanced project management skills.      
  • Demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope feasibility, gain understanding, schedule resources, and manage budget to plan.
  • Ability to lead, facilitate and drive to decisions with Executive Management.
  • Previous experience managing large international/global projects.
  • Effectively managed projects leading Virtual teams.
  • Proficient in software development methodologies.
  • Highly advanced level of people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility.
  • Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received.
  • Highly advanced level of investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expert ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives.
  • Advanced skills in customer relationship management and change management.
  • Highly advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions.
  • Highly advanced ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously among competing external client priorities.
  • Highly advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
  • Highly advanced persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers
  • Expertise in Microsoft Project, SharePoint and Information Management Tools.
  • Proficiency in Agile Management Tools (e.g. Rally).
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Client Implementation Experience (software products) Agile/Lean
  • Experience in the Life Insurance industry
  • Experience PMO administration and/or portfolio management
  • Experience Application Development for Finance functional area or Finance background
  • Master’s degree
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
  • Agile/Lean Training
  • LOMA certification
